Hello!

Good gosh - it's been awhile!

It's been busy down here... so a quick summary...

I'm staying longer. I got a promotion at work and will be here to at least April 2009. So those of you who haven't made it down here yet, you've got time!

I've been exploring more of Oz. I've been to Tasmania, where I spent a week walking the Overland Track with 2 friends. 65K, 20 kilo pack, more dehydrated meals than I care to remember, 7 days, 6 nights.

The second to last day on the track!

After the trek we were in Hobart for 5 days, where I found a store that imports US and UK foods/candies. I actually had tears in my eyes when I took the first sip of a cold Diet Dr. Pepper in about a year. Yum. Didn't know I could spend $90 on comfort food.

I just got back from a week in Central Australia, with my mom. Yep, my mom's here! She braved the long flight and is here for another week. We spent 4 days at Uluru-Kata-Tjuta National Park. I could spend days watching Uluru, it was flipping amazing. Kata-Tjuta (also known as the Olgas), was pretty cool too. We did a 10K walk around the base of Uluru and an 8 K walk trough KT. So much red sand! Then we spent a day in Alice Springs before boarding The Ghan for an overnight train trip to Adelaide. That was cool!

The triathon season ended successfully - I completed the long race in the last competition (the only novice to do so - 1K swim, 37K bike, 8K run). I'm looking to do an Olympic distance (1.5/40/10) in the spring.

Longest Tri yet!

I also competed in an all-day multi-sport event in Jindabyne, which is about 2 hours from here, up in the mountains. I did a swim (1.5K) and the long run (12.5K, cross-country in Koziusko National Park)). It was great fun and during the LONG run I just kept thanking Brian Lodge for instilling in me a love for cross-country running.
